Fort Wayne, IN – A bitter cold Friday across Indiana will soon give way to rain and warmer temperatures this weekend. Residents should prepare for fluctuating weather conditions, including wet roadways and breezy winds impacting travel.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), today’s high will struggle to reach 27°F under partly sunny skies, with calm conditions persisting throughout the day. Saturday will see temperatures climb to a high near 40°F, bringing a 30% chance of evening showers that increase significantly after dark. Rainfall totals could range from a quarter to three-quarters of an inch by Sunday morning, with gusty winds up to 25 mph potentially complicating travel on key routes like I-69 and I-469.

Rain will continue into Sunday, with highs near 47°F and a 90% chance of precipitation. Drivers should plan for slower travel times and slippery roads, especially during peak rainfall hours before 1 p.m. On Monday, temperatures are expected to surge to 55°F, marking the warmest day of the period. However, more rain is likely, with a 90% chance of showers extending into Monday night.

Looking ahead, cooler conditions return by Tuesday, with highs in the low 40s and partly sunny skies providing a brief reprieve from rain.

Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates and exercise caution when traveling, especially during wet and windy conditions over the weekend.
