Indianapolis, IN – Dense fog and the potential for snow squalls today are expected to create hazardous conditions for drivers across central Indiana.

The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday, with visibility reduced to a quarter mile or less in many areas. Drivers on major highways, including I-65, I-69, and I-70, are advised to reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time. Fog-related delays could persist through mid-morning as the advisory lifts.

Later today, isolated snow showers may develop, with a greater chance for snow squalls on Wednesday afternoon and evening. These intense bursts of snow and high winds could lead to whiteout conditions, making travel especially dangerous. Wind gusts are forecast to reach 40 mph during this period, further complicating road conditions.

Temperatures will steadily drop throughout the week, with highs in the upper 40s today falling to the low 20s by Thursday morning, when wind chills could dip below zero. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, monitor weather updates, and exercise caution during this period of adverse weather.
