Fort Wayne, IN – Drivers across northern Indiana are urged to use caution Monday morning as light snowfall is expected to create slick road conditions, especially south of US Route 24. Overnight snow and freezing temperatures may make travel hazardous during the early commute hours.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is forecast to begin late Sunday evening, tapering off after daybreak Monday. Accumulations south of US Route 24 are expected to reach up to one inch. The combination of snow and subfreezing temperatures could leave roads icy into mid-morning Monday. Officials advise motorists to allow extra travel time and reduce speeds on untreated roads.
Looking ahead, Monday’s high will reach 28°F with cloudy skies. Winds from the northeast may gust up to 25 mph, adding a chill to the air. Monday night will see partly cloudy skies and a low of 16°F.
The rest of the week will remain cold but mostly dry. Tuesday brings sunny skies with a high near 29°F, while Wednesday may see a slight chance of snow in the afternoon. Highs will stay in the mid-20s, with overnight lows dipping into the teens.
Drivers are encouraged to check weather updates and road conditions before heading out. Stay prepared with emergency supplies in vehicles, including blankets and flashlights.
