Indianapolis, Indiana – Storm-weary drivers could face another round of wet pavement and gusty winds across central Indiana Monday as thunderstorms develop before midday.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely before 11 a.m. Monday, with additional rain chances persisting until at least 2 p.m. A 60% chance of precipitation is expected, especially north of I-70. Gusts could reach 18 mph as west-southwest winds increase throughout the morning. New rainfall amounts will generally stay below a tenth of an inch, though heavier pockets are possible in thunderstorms.
While no severe storms are expected, lightning and localized downpours could slow commutes, particularly near I-65 and U.S. 31. Residents should allow extra travel time, keep devices charged, and avoid outdoor activities during active storms. The risk of isolated flash flooding remains minimal but can’t be ruled out in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
By Monday night, skies will clear with temps dipping to 57°F. Tuesday brings sunshine and highs near 78°F, though breezy conditions (gusts to 18 mph) could return. Wednesday and Thursday remain sunny and seasonably warm, with highs climbing into the mid-80s.
Rain chances reappear by Thursday night into Friday, with thunderstorm probabilities rising to 50% by the weekend.
More storms are possible through Friday — keep alerts on and expect updated advisories by midweek.
