Fort Wayne, IN – Drivers across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio may encounter near-zero visibility early Saturday as dense fog blankets the region, especially between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. EDT.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, patchy but locally dense fog has developed overnight, with visibility dropping below one-quarter mile in areas stretching from St. Joseph, Michigan, through Fort Wayne, Indiana, and into Lima, Ohio. Conditions are expected to gradually improve after 9 a.m. Saturday.

The affected region includes major travel corridors such as I-69, US-30, and US-24, along with smaller roadways in counties like Steuben, DeKalb, Putnam, and Van Wert. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra stopping distance when traveling in fog-prone areas.

Residents in cities including Auburn, Bryan, Coldwater, and Spencerville should remain alert for sudden changes in visibility, particularly in rural and low-lying areas.

This is the second widespread fog event in the region this month, a pattern more common in early summer due to humid air settling overnight.

The fog is expected to dissipate fully by late morning, but additional advisories could be issued if conditions persist.
