Fort Wayne, IN – Snow showers are expected to sweep through northern Indiana beginning early Wednesday, making roads slick and visibility limited as lake effect snow takes hold. Temperatures will plummet, with highs struggling to reach 34 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday’s snowfall will likely linger throughout the day, particularly in areas prone to lake effect bands. Although snow accumulation is predicted to remain under one inch, motorists are advised to exercise caution on major roadways, including Interstate 69, as icy conditions and reduced visibility may develop.
The cold trend will continue Thursday with partly sunny skies and highs near 29 degrees. Overnight, temperatures will dip to around 22 degrees, with a slight chance of additional snow late Thursday night. Friday is forecasted to remain mostly cloudy, with highs near 26 degrees and lows dropping to a frigid 17 degrees by evening.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is expected to bring some sunshine, with temperatures reaching a high of 27 degrees, though partly cloudy skies will persist into the evening. Sunday and Monday will feature another chance of snow as a storm system moves into the region, keeping highs in the mid-20s.
Residents are urged to monitor weather updates and prepare for icy sidewalks and roads throughout the week.
