South Bend, Indiana – Drivers across the Indiana–Michigan–Ohio tri-state region could encounter slick roads early Monday as a developing Great Lakes storm sends bands of light snow into northern Indiana, southern Michigan, and northwest Ohio.
According to the National Weather Service, colder air moving in behind a stronger Midwest storm will allow precipitation to transition into snow late Sunday night. While heavier snowfall is expected farther north across the Upper Midwest, the southern fringe of the system could still bring accumulating snow to the tri-state border region.
Communities including South Bend, Fort Wayne, Angola, Coldwater, and Toledo could see periods of light snow beginning late Sunday night and continuing into the early Monday morning commute. Accumulations are expected to remain light, but even minor snowfall could create slick conditions on untreated roads and bridges.
Key travel corridors such as Interstate 80/90, Interstate 69, and the Ohio Turnpike may experience reduced visibility or brief snow-covered stretches if snow bands intensify.
Temperatures hovering near or below freezing overnight will allow any snow that falls to stick quickly, especially on elevated surfaces and rural roads.
Drivers should allow extra travel time Monday morning and remain alert for rapidly changing road conditions. Forecasters will continue monitoring the storm track through the weekend, and additional advisories could be issued if snowfall potential increases across the tri-state region.
