Fort Wayne, IN – A Frost Advisory has been issued for multiple counties in southwest Michigan tonight through Friday morning, as temperatures are expected to dip as low as 33°F, bringing the risk of frost. The advisory, in effect from midnight tonight to 10 a.m. Friday, covers Cass, St. Joseph, Branch, Hillsdale, and both northern and southern Berrien Counties.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), frost could damage or kill tender plants that are not protected. The advisory extends across several counties in Michigan, including those along the Indiana-Michigan border. The cold overnight temperatures could affect agricultural areas, as well as gardens and landscaping.

Residents in these areas should take immediate steps to protect sensitive vegetation. This includes bringing potted plants indoors or covering them with a cloth or frost blanket before temperatures drop. Home gardeners are encouraged to secure any fragile plants and use caution when venturing outside early Friday morning, as frost may make surfaces slippery.

The frost is expected to clear by 10 a.m. Friday, but more frost advisories could follow as the weather cools down over the weekend.
