Fort Wayne, IN – Lake-effect snow showers will taper off today across northern Indiana, leaving roads mostly clear for travelers near US-30. While flurries may persist through the afternoon, little to no additional snow accumulation is expected.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain frigid, with highs reaching 23 degrees Saturday. Winds from the west at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph, will enhance the chill, keeping wind chills in the single digits at times. Tonight, skies will remain partly cloudy with lows dipping to 15 degrees.
Sunday brings mostly sunny skies, but temperatures will stay cold, peaking at 27 degrees. However, residents should prepare for a 50% chance of snow Sunday evening into Monday morning, especially near US-24. Light snow accumulations are possible, which could affect Monday morning commutes.
Looking ahead, Monday’s high of 27 degrees will be accompanied by scattered snow showers tapering off by midday. The rest of the week is expected to stay cold, with daytime highs in the 20s and nighttime lows dropping to the teens.
Drivers should monitor road conditions, especially if traveling Sunday evening. Officials recommend winterizing vehicles and carrying emergency supplies when venturing out in these temperatures. Stay updated by following the National Weather Service for the latest forecasts.
