Paducah, KY – Thunderstorms and heavy rain will drench western Kentucky and southern Illinois through Friday evening, with widespread impacts expected along the Ohio River Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, rain chances climb to 85% Thursday and Friday in cities like Hopkinsville, Madisonville, and New Madrid. Thunderstorms may trigger isolated flooding in low-lying areas, especially during the Friday afternoon commute. Carbondale, Cape Girardeau, and Mount Vernon also face multiple rounds of rain and occasional lightning.

By Saturday, precipitation rapidly drops off, with skies clearing across the region and high temperatures rebounding into the mid-80s by Sunday. Cities like Owensboro, Murray, and Poplar Bluff will see drier and warmer conditions as June begins. Overnight lows will hold steady in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Drivers should stay alert for reduced visibility and ponding on roads Thursday and Friday. Residents are encouraged to check local emergency alerts and avoid flooded areas.

Rain chances drop below 20% by Sunday, with a return to calm, summerlike weather through at least Tuesday.
