Indianapolis, IN — The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has declared an Air Quality Action Day (AQAD) for central and east-central Indiana. This alert runs from Monday evening through Tuesday morning. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on air quality conditions.

According to IDEM, the AQAD begins at 8 p.m. Monday and will last until 8 a.m. Tuesday. The warning cites elevated levels of fine particles (PM 2.5) in the air, posing risks to sensitive groups. IDEM advises children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues to limit outdoor activities during this time.

The alert covers areas including Indianapolis, Muncie, and surrounding counties. Elevated particle levels are expected to be temporary but could exceed the 24-hour health standard. For current conditions, residents can check SmogWatch.IN.gov.
