West Central Indiana – Crews with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) are actively pre-treating roads as two winter storm systems approach. Officials warn of potentially hazardous travel conditions beginning Thursday evening and continuing into Friday.

According to INDOT, trucks have been working since this morning to lay brine and other treatments on roadways. Maintenance will continue overnight as conditions evolve. Drivers are reminded to give plows room to operate and to reduce speeds when roads turn slick.

Meteorologists anticipate freezing rain and snow to develop in parts of the state by Friday morning. INDOT advises motorists to plan ahead, check local forecasts, and avoid unnecessary travel if conditions worsen.

“We are monitoring roadways closely and will provide updates,” said INDOT in a statement. Travelers are encouraged to stay alert and drive cautiously in affected areas.

Stay tuned for real-time updates as INDOT continues its efforts to ensure public safety.
