Indianapolis, IN – A blast of Arctic air will grip Indiana this week, bringing snow, bitter cold, and dangerous wind chills. Temperatures will struggle to reach double digits, with wind chills plunging below zero.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will continue Sunday before tapering off in the evening. Gusty winds up to 40 mph may create blowing snow and reduced visibility. Monday, Washington’s Birthday, will be dry but frigid, with a high near 19°F and wind chills as low as -3°F.

The coldest temperatures arrive midweek, with lows dipping into the single digits and highs barely reaching the teens. Wind chills will likely remain below zero through Thursday. Another round of snow is possible late Tuesday into Wednesday, though accumulations should be light.

Drivers should prepare for slick roads, especially on untreated surfaces. Pedestrians are advised to use caution on sidewalks and stairs due to icy conditions. Those venturing outside should dress in layers, as frostbite can develop in minutes in these extreme temperatures.
