Fort Wayne, IN – An Arctic blast is set to grip northern Indiana, bringing frigid temperatures, dangerous wind chills, and snow through midweek. Residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions and extreme cold that could pose health risks.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through Sunday evening, with additional snowfall of up to 3 inches and gusty winds reaching 40 mph. By Monday, temperatures will plummet, with wind chills as low as -5 degrees. Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are expected to become slick, making travel dangerous.

Monday’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies but frigid temperatures, with a high near 13°F. Cold conditions persist into Tuesday, with highs near 16°F and overnight lows in the single digits. Snow chances return Wednesday and Thursday, with minor accumulations possible.

Officials urge drivers to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check 511 road conditions before heading out. Layer up, limit outdoor exposure, and watch for icy surfaces.

Stay tuned for updates as this Arctic front settles in.
