Central Illinois – Mild temperatures and low chances of rain will dominate central Illinois through the upcoming weekend, but there will be some isolated showers late Wednesday afternoon and evening. These showers are expected to primarily affect areas near the Illinois River, with a few scattered storms also possible south of I-70 on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures will peak in the low 70s for most of the region on Wednesday, but a slight cool-down will occur later in the week. Expect highs in the upper 60s Thursday, with conditions remaining mild through the weekend.

Travelers should be aware of the potential for brief rain showers in the afternoon Wednesday, particularly in areas northwest of the Illinois River. Thursday’s weather may bring scattered showers, especially in the southern half of the state. However, by Friday, the region will see a return to mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures, with highs climbing into the 70s again for the weekend.

Warnings and advisories are not expected, but motorists should be cautious on roads that may become wet or slippery during the isolated afternoon rain. The rest of the week will provide favorable conditions for outdoor activities as temperatures rebound heading into Saturday and Sunday.
