Lincoln, Ill. – A weak cold front sliding across Illinois Saturday is bringing a small chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms, but most of the state will stay dry with rain odds no higher than 20 percent. The bigger change will be the arrival of cooler, fall-like air that will linger through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, overnight lows will dip into the upper 50s Saturday before dropping further into the 40s by Sunday night. Afternoon highs, meanwhile, will stay mild, ranging from the mid-70s Sunday to the lower 70s on Monday and Tuesday under mostly sunny skies.
Central Illinois cities including Springfield, Bloomington, and Decatur can expect dry travel conditions after the front passes, with crisp mornings and clear afternoons ideal for outdoor activities. Farmers in rural counties will benefit from several dry days for fieldwork, while cooler nights could give residents an early taste of sweater weather.
Forecasters say the pleasant stretch will hold through at least Tuesday, though another system later in the week could bring a return of unsettled conditions.
