Illinois State Trooper Struck on Interstate 94 in Chicago Saturday morning

Chicago, IL – An Illinois State Police (ISP) trooper was injured early Saturday morning when his vehicle was struck on Interstate 94 near 111th Street. The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. while the trooper was responding to a previous crash.

According to ISP, the trooper’s marked squad car, which had its emergency lights activated, was hit by an Audi driven by Samuel Oatis III, 47, of Dolton, IL. The trooper and Oatis were both transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This marks the 17th crash of 2024 related to the Move Over Law, highlighting the ongoing risk to emergency responders.
