Chicago, IL – Residents across Illinois should prepare for a night of intense spring weather as thunderstorms, damaging winds, and snow approach. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from 4 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday, with wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph. A High Wind Watch follows on Saturday, with gusts potentially hitting 60 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms will develop late Friday evening, with the potential for heavy rainfall and isolated severe storms. Winds from the south will increase to 30 to 40 mph, making travel hazardous, especially on highways like I-90 and I-55. Tree limbs and power lines may be knocked down, leading to possible outages.

Saturday will bring mostly sunny conditions, but high winds will persist, creating blowing debris and hazardous driving conditions. By Saturday night, temperatures will drop, bringing a chance of rain showers transitioning to snow. Light accumulation is possible by Sunday morning.

Looking ahead, Sunday will be much colder, with highs in the mid-40s and scattered snow showers. The chill will continue into early next week before another warm-up by Wednesday, with highs nearing 70 degrees.
