Champaign, IL – Spring weather in Champaign is bringing a mix of breezy conditions, rain showers, and a slight chance of thunderstorms this week. Starting Monday, residents can expect gusty winds up to 34 mph, along with the possibility of scattered showers before 4 a.m. As the day progresses, rain will turn into a slight chance of thunderstorms by late afternoon, especially between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, the chance of precipitation on Sunday is 50%, but the majority of the storm activity is expected to stay to the south and southwest of the area. However, strong gusts up to 30 mph could cause travel delays or make driving more difficult, especially on open roads like I-72. With winds picking up on Monday, gusts could climb as high as 34 mph, leading to rough conditions on the highways.

For Monday night, temperatures will drop to around 44°F, with winds continuing to gust between 20 to 30 mph. If you plan on traveling or spending time outside, be prepared for these conditions. The skies will start to clear up by Tuesday, with temperatures rising to 74°F by the afternoon. However, with the recent rain and gusty winds, watch out for slick spots on local roads, especially in the morning hours before the day fully clears.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, Champaign will experience mostly sunny weather on Tuesday, followed by mild, pleasant conditions Wednesday and Thursday. Highs will hover in the upper 70s with mostly clear skies. So, while the start of the week brings unsettled weather, the second half should be clear and warm.
