St. Louis, MO – Severe thunderstorms and strong winds are set to impact eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois through Sunday, bringing possible tornadoes and damaging gusts up to 70 mph. Residents should prepare for hazardous conditions, particularly in the St. Louis metro area.

According to the National Weather Service, a fast-moving storm system will sweep across the region Saturday night into Sunday. The strongest storms could produce damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes where conditions are most favorable. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the area, with gusts between 45 and 55 mph outside of thunderstorms.

Additionally, a Red Flag Warning is in place for central and northeastern Missouri and parts of Illinois due to critical fire conditions. The combination of strong winds and dry conditions increases fire risks through early evening Saturday.

Sunday will see gradually clearing skies, with highs near 52°F. Winds will remain strong, with gusts up to 23 mph.

Looking ahead, Monday brings sunny skies with highs in the low 70s—ideal for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Showers return Wednesday, with a 50% chance of rain and cooler temperatures by Thursday.

Residents should stay weather-aware, secure outdoor objects, and monitor updates from local authorities.
