Illinois–Iowa – Gusty winds sweep across the Mississippi River this morning, rattling signs and pushing across bridges linking Davenport and Moline. Drivers crossing the river already feel strong crosswinds as March weather turns active across the Quad Cities. The windy start signals a major shift that will bring rain Sunday and heavy snow by Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, a High Wind Warning remains in effect until 3 p.m., with wind gusts reaching 55 mph across eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Strong west winds continue through midday, especially across exposed routes including I-80, I-74, and the I-280 bridge corridors. High-profile vehicles may experience difficult travel during peak commute hours.

Skies gradually brighten today as temperatures climb toward 47 degrees. Despite sunshine, strong winds keep the air feeling brisk across the region.

Conditions calm somewhat tonight as colder air settles in. Temperatures drop near 31 degrees, and a brief chance of light snow may develop later as clouds increase.

Saturday remains mostly cloudy with highs near 46 degrees, offering a temporary break before the next system develops across the Plains.

Meteorologists are now tracking a stronger storm approaching the Midwest. Rain spreads across the Quad Cities during the day Sunday as temperatures climb toward 59 degrees. Roads will turn wet across Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, and Bettendorf.

Conditions deteriorate rapidly Sunday night. Rain changes to heavy snow, and strong winds return across the Mississippi River Valley. Blowing snow may reduce visibility on I-80 and I-74, especially in open areas.

Temperatures plunge sharply overnight with lows near 15 degrees, creating a risk of slick roads and drifting snow early Monday.

Monday stays cold and windy with patchy blowing snow possible through the morning before gradual clearing arrives later in the day.
