Davenport, Iowa – Scattered storms could spark severe weather across the Quad Cities region Friday evening, with the threat shifting eastward before heavier, widespread rain moves in by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, storm chances begin this afternoon with a 20% risk in the west and up to 60% in the southeast. Some storms could become severe after 7 p.m., especially along and east of the Mississippi River. Temperatures will climb from the low 60s in northwest Iowa to near 80°F in southeast Illinois before dropping sharply overnight.
Tonight, lows will fall into the 30s and 40s across the region, with a 30–80% chance of storms continuing in the southeast. Saturday will offer limited relief, with partial clearing and highs around 55–60°F. However, another round of rain is expected Saturday night into Sunday, when chances spike to 80% across the area.
Communities from Cedar Rapids to Galesburg should prepare for wet roads, minor flooding in low-lying areas, and cooler conditions by the end of the weekend. Residents are urged to monitor updates, limit travel during storms, and secure outdoor items ahead of gusty winds.
Rain chances and cool temperatures will linger into Sunday night, with additional advisories possible.
