Quad Cities, IA/IL – A blast of arctic air will hit the Quad Cities area Monday, bringing below-normal temperatures, windy conditions, and a chance for light flurries or sprinkles to start the week.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, the cold front is expected to drop daytime highs Monday into the low 40s in northern areas and upper 40s in the south, with overnight lows plunging to between 20 and 27 degrees. Wind gusts may add to the chill factor, making conditions feel even colder.

The region will remain below seasonal averages through Tuesday, with frost and freezing temperatures likely across both Iowa and Illinois. Tuesday’s highs are forecast between 45°F and 53°F, before a gradual warming trend lifts temperatures into the 50s and 60s by Wednesday and Thursday.

Chance of rain increases midweek, with a 30-50% probability of precipitation by Wednesday and 20-30% on Thursday. Drivers should be alert for slick spots during early morning commutes, especially Monday and Tuesday.

Residents are urged to take precautions against the cold, including protecting plants, pets, and exposed pipes. Layering clothing and limiting time outdoors is recommended until the warming trend sets in later in the week.
