Davenport, Iowa – Scattered showers and embedded thunderstorms will linger across eastern Iowa and western Illinois through Friday, with the heaviest activity expected north of Highway 30.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, widespread morning rain is shifting northward Thursday, with a 30–60% chance of redevelopment by the afternoon. Thunderstorms remain possible into the evening, driven by winds from the west at 10 to 20 mph.

Friday brings more of the same: high temperatures in the mid to upper 60s and a lower, 20–40% chance of isolated storms. The area north of Highway 30 — including Cedar Rapids, Clinton, and Sterling — is expected to see the most persistent rainfall.

Drivers should anticipate slick roads and low visibility during periods of heavier showers, particularly during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Residents are advised to keep umbrellas and rain gear handy, and to avoid flooded areas.

Saturday will see slightly cooler temps in the low to mid 60s with drier skies, offering a brief break before possible rain returns early next week. Updates from the NWS remain ongoing as conditions develop.
