Palos Park, IL – November marks National Family Caregivers Month, and the Palos Park Police Department is joining Pathlights to honor the millions of Americans who provide care for family members every day.

According to Pathlights, approximately 41.8 million people in the United States are caring for a relative over the age of 65. Most of these caregivers are unpaid, balancing their own responsibilities while offering emotional and physical support to loved ones in need.

The annual observance, held each November, serves to raise awareness of the challenges caregivers face and highlight available local resources. Pathlights, a Palos Heights–based nonprofit, connects families with vital programs that support older adults and their caregivers in Cook County’s southwest suburbs.

Residents who are caring for aging family members are encouraged to visit www.pathlights.org to explore community programs, respite options, and caregiver support groups.

“Recognizing caregivers is an important part of strengthening our community,” the Palos Park Police Department noted in its post. “These individuals make tremendous sacrifices to ensure their loved ones remain safe and cared for.”
