Moline, IL – Dangerous cold continues across Illinois, with subzero temperatures and wind chills as low as -25°F persisting through Thursday morning. Residents should limit outdoor exposure and bundle up to prevent frostbite.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday for north-central and western Illinois. Overnight lows will hover near -2°F, with wind chills making it feel much colder.
Thursday will bring mostly sunny skies but continued frigid conditions, with daytime highs near 15°F. Another round of bitter cold is expected Thursday night, with lows around -2°F. Winds will ease slightly but remain strong enough to keep wind chills near -20°F.
A warming trend begins Friday, with temperatures reaching 20°F and climbing into the 30s by Saturday. By Sunday and Monday, highs could approach the mid-40s, offering a much-needed break from the Arctic chill.
Residents should take precautions by wearing layered clothing, covering exposed skin, and avoiding prolonged outdoor activities. Drivers should also be aware of icy conditions, especially on untreated roads.
