Idaho Winter Storm Warning: Heavy Snow and 50 MPH Winds Until Monday Morning

Pocatello, ID – A winter storm is bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds to parts of Idaho, with warnings and advisories in effect through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Pocatello, a Winter Storm Warning remains in place until 6 a.m. MDT Monday for the Frank Church Wilderness, Sawtooth/Stanley Basin, Sun Valley Region, and Big Lost Highlands/Copper Basin. These areas can expect an additional 2 to 10 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching 50 mph. Travel conditions are expected to be hazardous due to blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Meanwhile, a Winter Storm Warning for the Centennial Mountains – Island Park region remains in effect until 8 p.m. MDT Sunday, with 2 to 4 inches of additional snowfall and winds up to 45 mph. A subsequent Winter Weather Advisory will take effect from 6 a.m. Monday through noon Tuesday, bringing 3 to 10 inches of snow and wind gusts of 35 mph. These conditions could impact Monday’s morning and evening commutes.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling. The Idaho Transportation Department advises checking 511.idaho.gov for updated road conditions. Travelers should carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water, in case of road closures or delays.
