Boise, Idaho – May 2025 in Boise closed out significantly warmer and drier than normal, continuing a warming trend that contrasted sharply with the cooler, wetter conditions seen just a year earlier.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, May 2025 posted consistently higher temperatures with below-normal precipitation, diverging from the 30-year climate average (1991–2020). In contrast, May 2024 ended slightly cooler than normal with near-average rainfall, totaling 1.48 inches across the month.

In May 2024, Boise averaged 71.0°F for daily highs—1.3°F below normal—with multiple days dipping into the 30s and low 40s overnight. Daily lows averaged 45.4°F, which was 2.1°F below normal. Several measurable rain events occurred, including 0.34 inches on May 26 and 0.39 inches on May 30.

Meanwhile, May 2025 featured more heat and fewer wet days. The warmth reduced snowpack runoff and dried soils quicker than usual, potentially affecting irrigation and fire risk heading into June.

Residents are advised to prepare for a hotter summer trend by conserving water, checking irrigation schedules, and staying weather-aware.
