Spokane, WA – A major shift in the weather pattern is set to impact Spokane and surrounding areas, bringing heavy rain and potential flooding this weekend. Forecasters warn that an incoming atmospheric river could cause rapid snowmelt, leading to rising river levels and possible flood risks.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog will linger Friday morning before temperatures climb to around 40°F under mostly cloudy skies. By Friday night, a mix of rain and snow is expected before transitioning into steady rainfall on Saturday. A 100% chance of rain is forecast for Saturday night, with rainfall totals between 0.60 to 1.25 inches in lowlands and up to 2 inches in mountainous regions.

As warm air moves in, high temperatures will reach the upper 40s to low 50s by Sunday and Monday. The combination of rain and rapid snowmelt will likely swell rivers such as the Little Spokane River and Hangman Creek, with minor flooding possible by Sunday morning.

Residents should monitor forecasts and prepare for potential flood conditions, especially in low-lying areas. Stay updated with the latest alerts from the National Weather Service.
