Charleston, SC – Residents across southeast Georgia and South Carolina are bracing for hazardous weather conditions, including ice accumulation and dangerously cold temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston issued the advisory Thursday morning, warning that these conditions will persist through Friday.

According to the NWS, excessive cold is expected across the region, with ice accumulation posing risks to travel and infrastructure. Areas including Jenkins, Screven, and Bulloch counties in Georgia, as well as Beaufort, Charleston, and Dorchester counties in South Carolina, are under heightened alert.

The hazardous weather is anticipated to impact roads, leading to potential closures or delays, particularly in areas prone to icing. Officials urge caution for drivers and advise avoiding unnecessary travel.

By Friday, temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing in many areas, with conditions gradually improving over the weekend. Residents are advised to prepare for the cold by insulating pipes, checking heating systems, and keeping emergency supplies on hand.
