Davenport, Iowa – Cooler air and a breezy northwest wind are bringing a mild Tuesday to the Quad Cities region, but isolated thunderstorms could develop along and north of I-80 this afternoon and evening.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, there’s a 20–40% chance of showers today, with highs in the lower 70s and winds gusting up to 30 mph. Areas north of Interstate 80 may see pop-up storms into the evening hours, though most of the region will stay dry.
The weather shifts quickly midweek. Wednesday will bring highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, followed by an active storm pattern through Friday. Isolated severe storms are possible late Wednesday, particularly in northern counties. Overnight lows will hover in the 60s.
Residents in Clinton, Cedar Rapids, and Rock Island should monitor forecasts closely and prepare for changing conditions. Those in high-risk areas should secure loose outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel during potential storm windows.
Warnings may be issued late Wednesday as the system strengthens. Updates will continue from the NWS throughout the week.
