Houston, TX – Dense fog will create hazardous conditions across southeast Texas Wednesday morning, significantly reducing visibility for commuters. Drivers are urged to proceed with caution as visibility may drop to a quarter-mile or less, particularly along key roadways.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday for Houston and surrounding areas, including Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Galveston counties. Motorists on Interstate 10, U.S. Highway 59, and the Sam Houston Tollway should allow extra travel time and use low-beam headlights.

The combination of calm winds, lingering moisture, and cool temperatures has created ideal conditions for dense fog formation. Areas near bodies of water, including Galveston Bay and Matagorda Bay, are especially prone to low visibility.

Conditions are expected to improve by mid-morning as temperatures rise and the fog dissipates. Commuters should remain vigilant for rapidly changing visibility, particularly in low-lying areas or on bridges and overpasses.

Looking ahead, Houston’s five-day weather outlook features mild and dry conditions through the weekend. Wednesday afternoon will bring partly sunny skies with highs near 70 degrees. Similar conditions will persist Thursday and Friday, with highs in the low 70s and cool overnight lows in the 50s.

The weekend forecast shows a slight chance of light showers Saturday, but temperatures will remain seasonable, with highs in the upper 60s. As Christmas approaches, forecasters expect a mix of sun and clouds, providing calm and travel-friendly conditions across the Houston area.

Drivers are encouraged to stay updated on weather alerts and exercise caution during the morning commute.
