Houston, Texas – Rising summer heat and scattered thunderstorms could disrupt travel in the Houston area Tuesday afternoon as temperatures climb toward 88°F.

According to the National Weather Service, a 20% chance of thunderstorms is expected after 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3rd, with mostly sunny skies earlier in the day. The southeast wind will range from 5 to 15 mph, creating hot, humid conditions across southeast Texas. Commuters on I-10, I-45, and I-69 should be prepared for brief downpours and reduced visibility during peak travel hours.

While the storm threat remains limited, lightning and brief heavy rainfall could impact outdoor plans and increase the risk of slick road conditions late in the day. Residents are urged to stay weather-aware and seek shelter during thunderstorm activity. Power disruptions are not expected but remain possible if storms intensify.

Tuesday night will bring calmer conditions with partly cloudy skies and a low near 78°F. However, widespread haze is forecast to return by Thursday, adding another layer of discomfort to this early June heat pattern.
