Door County is under a winter weather advisory as snowfall of 3 to 5 inches is expected through Sunday afternoon. Snow began early Sunday morning and is forecast to persist until 3 p.m., leading to slick roadways and limited visibility.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay, the advisory remains active until 3 p.m. CST. Snowfall totals will vary between 3 and 5 inches, with heavier accumulations expected in northern parts of the county. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel due to hazardous road conditions.
Blowing snow could exacerbate visibility issues, particularly in open areas. The NWS warns that reduced visibility may make driving conditions treacherous. Temperatures hovering around freezing and gusty winds may worsen the situation.
Motorists should exercise caution and allow extra time for travel. Slippery roads will be widespread, particularly on less maintained routes. The NWS recommends calling 511 for the latest road condition updates.
This snowstorm follows a series of winter weather events across northern Wisconsin. Areas in Vilas, Oneida, and Shawano counties are also under advisories with expected accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Central Wisconsin, including Marathon and Langlade counties, could experience blowing snow later Sunday, further complicating travel.
Residents should monitor local forecasts and prepare for delayed commutes. Shoveling efforts may be ongoing into Sunday evening as the storm tapers off.
