Springfield, MO – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for southeast Kansas and parts of southwestern and south-central Missouri. The alert remains active until 6 a.m. Tuesday, with further heavy rainfall anticipated across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, an additional 2 to 3 inches of rain is expected. Some areas could see even higher amounts. This rainfall will add to the 2 to 5 inches that have already fallen over the past several days. The combination of saturated ground and continued precipitation increases the risk of flash flooding, especially near rivers and low-lying areas.
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and prepare for potential flooding. Driving through flooded roads can be dangerous, so authorities urge caution. If floodwaters rise, residents should avoid attempting to cross affected areas. Emergency services are on standby to assist if conditions worsen.
The Flood Watch highlights the risks of efficient rainfall rates, flash flooding, and rising water levels along rivers. Residents in vulnerable areas should stay alert through the night.
