Green Bay, Wis. – Strong to severe thunderstorms could develop Thursday afternoon across central and eastern Wisconsin, bringing hail up to an inch, damaging wind gusts, and a risk of isolated tornadoes—especially in areas south of Highway 29.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the highest potential for severe weather exists between 2 and 10 p.m., with strong storm development most likely along and south of Hwy 29. This includes cities such as Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Appleton, and Wisconsin Rapids. Flash flooding and ponding are also concerns, particularly where rainfall rates hit 1–2 inches per hour along Highway 10 and into the southern Fox Valley.

Localized urban flooding could make low-lying roads impassable. Drivers should avoid flooded streets and expect slick conditions during the evening commute. Minor river flooding and fast flows may impact rural areas in the Northwoods where steadier rainfall is expected.

If thunderstorms do intensify, alerts may be issued with little notice. Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, charge mobile devices, and move indoors when storms approach.

⚠️ Warnings remain in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday. More updates are likely throughout the day.
