Houston, TX – Drivers across Southeast Texas should prepare for dense fog as it blankets the region Thursday morning. The National Weather Service warns that visibility on major highways, including I-45, I-10, and Beltway 8, will drop significantly before 10 a.m. Patchy fog has already been noted overnight and is expected to worsen during peak commuting hours. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and keep a safe following distance, especially in low-lying areas prone to thicker fog.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), conditions are expected to improve by mid-morning as the fog lifts, making way for sunny skies and a high near 85°F. However, until then, drivers should exercise extreme caution, particularly along US-59 and Beltway 8 where visibility may be reduced to less than a quarter mile. The NWS urges drivers to turn on low-beam headlights and avoid using cruise control during foggy conditions. This is especially important on busy thoroughfares such as I-610 and near intersections where sudden stops may occur.

Looking ahead, Thursday night will see mostly clear skies, with temperatures cooling to the mid-60s. The warm, sunny trend will continue through the weekend, with highs reaching 87°F on Saturday and no rain in sight. Despite the fog-related hazards early in the week, Houston residents can anticipate comfortable and clear conditions throughout the coming days.
