New York, NY – A winter storm is expected to hit New York and surrounding areas Saturday, bringing snow and ice to the region. The storm is likely to impact the Lower Hudson Valley, New York City, and parts of Long Island with hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected in the Lower Hudson Valley and Connecticut. New York City and Long Island could see 1 to 3 inches of snow. Ice accumulation may reach up to a couple of tenths of an inch, especially in interior regions.

The storm will begin with snow Saturday afternoon and transition to a mix of sleet and freezing rain by evening. By Saturday night or early Sunday morning, precipitation is expected to change to plain rain as temperatures rise.

Officials warn that the storm could create hazardous travel conditions due to snow-covered roads and icy surfaces. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and stay updated on weather developments.

The storm could also affect power lines and tree limbs in areas with higher ice accretion. The National Weather Service advises residents to prepare for possible disruptions and stay indoors if conditions worsen.

The forecast suggests improved conditions by Sunday, but travel delays may linger. Stay tuned for updates as the storm progresses.
