Blacksburg, VA – A wind advisory remains in effect through 6 a.m. Saturday for portions of northwest North Carolina, southwest and west-central Virginia, and southeast West Virginia, as strong winds sweep through the region.
According to the National Weather Service, west winds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, are expected. These conditions may result in blowing debris, downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages.
Areas under the advisory include cities such as Roanoke, Blacksburg, Tazewell, Boone, and Lewisburg. The advisory highlights potential challenges for drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, and urges residents to secure outdoor objects to prevent damage.
The National Weather Service recommends using extra caution while driving in the affected areas and being prepared for possible interruptions to utilities.
