Green Bay, Wisconsin – Cold temperatures and periods of light snow are expected across the Green Bay area through midweek, according to the National Weather Service.
Early Tuesday morning conditions at Austin Straubel International Airport showed temperatures near 13°F, with wind chills around –2°F under overcast skies. West winds of 10 to 14 mph, with higher gusts overnight, are contributing to hazardous cold exposure during early morning hours.
The National Weather Service reports that snow is likely Tuesday, mainly after mid-morning, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. While snowfall amounts are expected to remain light, generally less than 1 inch, untreated roads and bridges may become slick during the afternoon and evening commute. Daytime highs are forecast to reach only 18°F.
Snow chances taper off Tuesday night, though flurries may linger into early Wednesday. Overnight lows Tuesday night are expected to fall to around 14°F, followed by another round of light snow chances Wednesday afternoon. Highs Wednesday are forecast near 19°F, with winds gusting up to 20 mph, keeping wind chills in the single digits.
The coldest conditions arrive Wednesday night, when skies clear and temperatures drop to around 0°F. Wind chills during this period may fall below zero, increasing the risk of frostbite with prolonged outdoor exposure.
New Year’s Day is expected to be mostly sunny but cold, with highs near 13°F. A slight moderation follows late week, with highs reaching the mid to upper teens Friday, though overnight lows remain near 5°F.
Spotter activation is not expected, and no winter storm warnings are currently in effect. However, the National Weather Service urges residents to monitor road conditions during snowfall periods.
Commuters, students, and outdoor workers should dress in layers and allow extra travel time during snow and extreme cold through midweek.
