Green Bay, Wis. – Strong northwest winds and early morning rain swept through north-central Wisconsin Tuesday as a cold front moved across the region, bringing gusts up to 35 mph and slick roads before sunrise.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the brunt of the precipitation affected the Northwoods and far northeastern parts of the state early Tuesday. Winds out of the northwest reached 30–35 mph, especially in open areas and near Lake Michigan, reducing visibility for commuters. Conditions are expected to improve this afternoon as clouds clear and sunshine returns, with highs reaching between 45 and 60 degrees.
Rain chances will ramp up again late Wednesday as another system moves in from the west. Showers are likely throughout Thursday, particularly in east-central Wisconsin, including the Fox Valley and Manitowoc areas. Friday brings a slight chance for lingering showers, especially in the morning.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items today and drive cautiously during gusty periods. Those in eastern counties should prepare for wet conditions later this week by checking storm drains and planning alternate routes.
Rainfall will remain scattered but persistent through Thursday evening. The National Weather Service advises monitoring local alerts, as more advisories may be issued before the weekend.
