Green Bay, WI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Green Bay area until 9 a.m. Thursday, complicating the morning commute. Wet snow, with rates heavy at times, is expected before transitioning to rain later this morning.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall totals will range from 1 to 3 inches, with isolated areas seeing up to 4 inches. Winds are also a concern, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph. The highest snowfall rates are forecasted through 7 a.m., creating hazardous travel conditions.
Officials warn of slippery, untreated roads and reduced visibility during heavier snow. Strong northwest winds may further impact drivers, particularly those in high-profile vehicles. Commuters should slow down and use caution while traveling.
The affected counties include Brown, Outagamie, Kewaunee, Winnebago, Manitowoc, and Calumet. Residents are advised to monitor local road conditions through the state’s 511 hotline.
As temperatures rise mid-morning, snow will turn to rain, easing conditions. Drivers are urged to stay vigilant and allow extra travel time until roads improve.
