Green Bay, Wisconsin – Drivers across northeast Wisconsin could run into slippery roads during the Thursday morning and Friday morning commutes as two rounds of light snow move through the region, followed by a sharp temperature drop late Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the first round of snow arrives late tonight and continues into Thursday morning. A second round develops Thursday evening and lasts into late Thursday night. Snow totals will generally stay under an inch across central Wisconsin, with around 1 to 2 inches possible farther north and east. Locally higher amounts approaching 3 inches cannot be ruled out in Vilas County.
Snow may briefly end as light freezing drizzle after each round, increasing the risk for slick spots on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses. Areas including Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Sturgeon Bay, and Door County could see slowed travel during peak commute times.
A brief warming trend allows some locations to climb above freezing Thursday afternoon and early Friday, the first time many spots have done so since mid-January. That relief will be short-lived. On Friday, temperatures peak early in the morning before falling sharply into the single digits and teens by afternoon as gusty northwest winds move in.
Residents are urged to allow extra travel time, monitor road conditions, and stay alert for updated advisories as conditions evolve through Friday morning.
