Green Bay, WI – Residents of northern Wisconsin should prepare for wintry weather tonight as a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain are expected across Vilas County and other north-central regions, creating hazardous road conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin this evening, transitioning to snow in northern areas and rain elsewhere. Up to three inches of snow accumulation and minor ice formation are likely, particularly in Vilas County, where the advisory remains active until 10 p.m. Motorists are urged to use caution, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses.

Tonight’s forecast for Green Bay predicts rain beginning after 2 a.m., with temperatures dropping to a low of 40 degrees. Winds will remain light, but new precipitation amounts of up to a tenth of an inch are possible.

Looking ahead to Monday, rain will linger through the early afternoon, with temperatures hovering near 43 degrees before dropping to 39 later in the day. Northerly winds will increase, reaching up to 10 mph by evening.

The five-day forecast for the Green Bay area shows improved conditions by midweek. Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be partly sunny with highs in the mid-30s, while Thanksgiving Day will be cool and dry, with a high near 35. Overnight lows throughout the week will remain in the 20s, potentially dipping into the teens by Friday night.

Plan ahead if traveling tonight or during Thanksgiving week. Keep an eye on updated weather reports and road conditions, especially in areas affected by snow and ice.
