Grand Rapids, MI – A late-season snow system threatens to snarl Monday morning travel across Central Michigan, particularly around Grand Rapids, where commuters could face reduced visibility and slick roads during peak hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, snow is expected between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Monday, followed by lingering snow showers and gusty winds that could reach up to 36 mph. Temperatures will remain just above freezing, increasing the risk of icy patches, especially along major routes like US-131 and I-196.

Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, reduce speed, and check conditions before leaving. Snow accumulations are expected to be light but could still affect traction during the early commute. Monday night brings calmer weather and clearer skies with lows in the upper 20s.

Tuesday marks the beginning of a more spring-like trend. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs around 44°F, followed by a clear and chilly night. Wednesday and Thursday will stay sunny with temperatures gradually rising into the low 50s. By Friday, rain chances return with a high near 56°F, followed by scattered showers and partial sunshine on Saturday.

While this week starts with a winter-like feel, spring temperatures will make a steady return by midweek. Residents should remain weather-aware, especially Monday morning, and stay updated with NWS alerts. Snow removal crews and salt trucks may be active early, particularly on elevated roadways and bridges.
