Grand Rapids, MI – Michigan residents should prepare for snow showers and dropping temperatures as winter conditions settle in this weekend. Expect slick roadways, including stretches of I-96, and limited visibility during snow showers.

According to the National Weather Service, Thanksgiving Day will remain partly sunny with a high near 37°F. After 1 p.m., there is a 20% chance of light snow showers. By tonight, snow showers become likely, with up to one inch of accumulation and lows near 28°F.

Black Friday shoppers should prepare for cold and windy conditions. Friday’s high will only reach 31°F, with snow showers continuing throughout the day. Winds could gust up to 26 mph, making it feel even colder. Friday night temperatures will drop to 23°F, with more snow showers likely.

Looking ahead, Saturday brings a 50% chance of snow showers with a high near 29°F, while Sunday sees slightly warmer temperatures, reaching 33°F. Snowfall will taper off by Sunday evening. By Monday, snow showers are expected again, with highs near 32°F.

Drivers should exercise caution on highways and city streets. Reduced traction and icy conditions are possible, especially overnight and early in the mornings. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle, including blankets and water, in case of delays.
