Grand Rapids, MI – Residents in Michigan should prepare for light to moderate snowfall beginning early Friday morning and lasting through Friday night. The National Weather Service predicts 1-3 inches of snow, with the highest accumulations near US-131.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, snowfall will likely begin after 7 a.m. Friday. Commuters should expect reduced visibility, slick road conditions, and delays during peak travel hours. Winds gusting up to 18 mph may further reduce visibility, especially in areas with lake-effect snow. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, allow extra travel time, and monitor updates from local authorities.

Friday night’s forecast calls for snow showers tapering off by 1 a.m., leaving cloudy skies and a low near 21°F. Saturday will bring partly sunny skies with highs reaching 28°F, though icy patches may linger on less-traveled roads.

Looking ahead, snow showers are expected to return Sunday evening, with a 70% chance of additional accumulation into Monday. Daytime highs will hover around 30°F through early next week, with nighttime lows dipping into the teens and 20s.

Travelers should stay updated through the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the latest road conditions. Plan ahead, bundle up, and stay safe as wintry weather settles into the region.
