GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – A calm, star-filled sky stretches over the Grand Valley this morning, but a shift is quietly on the way. After several warm, dry days under clear fall sunshine, cooler air and rain chances will return by the end of the weekend, marking the first notable pattern change in nearly two weeks.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, Thursday will stay sunny and mild, with highs climbing into the upper 60s. Friday remains warm near 67°F, though clouds will begin to increase across Mesa County by late afternoon. A Pacific trough will move inland by Sunday, pulling moisture across western Colorado and boosting rain chances to around 40 percent through Sunday night.

Drivers and travelers along I-70 should prepare for wet pavement and occasional gusty winds between Rifle and Grand Junction, especially during the late-morning to afternoon hours Sunday. Rainfall totals are expected to stay light—around a tenth to a quarter inch in most lower valley areas—but could briefly disrupt outdoor events and early travel plans.

By Monday, cooler air settles in with highs dropping to the low 50s, signaling the first true November chill for the region. The early-week system won’t bring snow to the valley, but higher peaks above 8,000 feet could see a light dusting—a small “winter tease” ahead of Thanksgiving week travel.

Meanwhile, after Tuesday night’s G4 solar storm lit up skies from Montana to Texas, minor GPS or communication disruptions could still linger across parts of western Colorado this morning, though impacts should remain limited.
