Georgia – The air is crisp and quiet across Atlanta this morning, with temperatures near freezing and light fog lingering across low valleys. But after several brisk mornings, warmer air is on the move. The Peach State will see a noticeable shift toward mild, sunny afternoons through midweek before another cooldown by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Atlanta, patchy fog may form through midmorning Tuesday, especially along I-75 and I-285, before giving way to sunshine and highs near 49°F. By Wednesday, temperatures will climb to the upper 50s with a light southwest breeze — a welcome break from the early-December chill.
The mild stretch will continue Thursday and Friday, with highs around 58°F to 60°F under mostly sunny skies. However, another cool front will slide through the region Friday night, bringing breezier conditions and returning lows near freezing for the weekend.
Drivers should remain alert for morning fog and patchy frost through midweek, especially in rural and shaded areas. The combination of damp ground and cold nights could make some bridges slick during the early commute.
