Atlanta, GA — A Red Flag Warning has been issued for north and east Georgia on Saturday due to conditions favorable for wildfire spread, including dry air, gusty winds, and warm temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT. It includes areas across the Chattahoochee and Oconee National Forests and counties such as Cobb, Fulton, Hall, Clarke, and Putnam.

Forecasters warn that winds from the west to northwest will range from 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. Relative humidity values are expected to fall between 20 and 25 percent, with afternoon temperatures reaching 65 to 75 degrees.

Officials strongly discourage outdoor burning, as fires that ignite under these conditions may spread quickly and become difficult to contain. Residents are urged to check with local authorities regarding burn restrictions and remain vigilant.

Georgia typically sees an uptick in fire danger during early spring when vegetation is dry and humidity drops. Emergency crews and fire managers are on alert across the affected regions to respond rapidly if fires develop.
